March is Lymphoedem­a awareness month and Recovery Haven Kerry will be hosting a free talk on awareness of Lymphoedem­a and management. GAA LOTTO:

The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto: 5-12-13-24. The Jackpot of €8,000 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be €8,050. The two €50 winners were: Kitty O’Halloran, Ballinclem­essig and Mrs O’Connor, Tiershanah­an. The €25 winner was: Laura Reidy, Harty’s Tce., Ballyheigu­e.

SENIORS:

Ballyheigu­e senior hurlers were defeated by Crotta in the County League at Dromakee on Saturday. Final score Ballyheigu­e 0-13 and Crotta 2-17.

St Brendan’s AC is hosting the Maurice Collins–4 Mile Fun Run on Sunday week, April 1st, starting at Ardfert Quarries at 10.30am. As the run is in aid of Down Syndrome Kerry & Kerry Hospice Foundation, big support is expected from the parish and beyond. Entry is on the day. The Kerry 5k road championsh­ips are being held on this Sunday in Currow for adults. Anybody who is in the masters age groups (over 35 upwards) are welcome to run with the club but need to be registered beforehand. Contact the above number if you wish to run for the club in these races.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 12th March in the Ballyheigu­e & District Coursing Club Lotto: 4-5-21-23. Jackpot was not won. The €50 winners were: Marie Nolan, C/o Macs, Mike Houlihan, C/o MO’H and John Casey, C/o White Sands. Next week’s Jackpot €8,800.

DAFFODIL DAY:

The annual Daffodil Day takes place on Friday next, March 23rd. Volunteers will be out and about in various locations in the area. The organising committee will be grateful for your support.

FIRE SAFETY:

The local branch of Community Alert have arranged a talk on Fire Safety and Fire Prevention in the Home in response to the numerous recent fire-related incidents nationwide. Fire Department personnel will be at Lisselton School, tomorrow, Thursday, March 22nd at 8.30pm. Everybody welcome.

PARISH MAGAZINE:

Time to get those creative juices flowing for the 34th Edition of the Ballydonog­hue Parish Magazine. This is a call out for articles which you feel may be of interest to the parish community at home or abroad, or if you know someone living and working abroad maybe they have a story to tell. DEATHS:

The death occurred on March 11th of Patsy Ahern, Loughanes. Patsy, who spent his working life in Lisselton Creamery as well as stints in Tarbert, Coolbeha, Duagh, Kilcoleman and Ballylongf­ord. His popularity was evident at the large turnout at the removal from O’Carroll’s Funeral Home, Listowel, at Mass at St Teresa’s Church, Ballydonog­hue and burial in St John’s Cemetery, Ballybunio­n. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Joan, daughter, Eileen, brothers, William and Thomas, sisters, May, Marie and Brenda, and to their extended families, his neighbours and friends. Sympathy is extended to Margaret O’Connor and family, Loughanes and to the Long families, Guhard on the death of Bernard (Bernie) O’Connor, Listowel and formerly Moyvane. He was predecease­d by his wife, Hannah Mai (nee Long, Guhard) on January 8th last. May they rest in peace. over grit from the churchyard. It was put to good use by a number of local community groups. All “would be” gardeners are reminded of the garden course due to start on Wednesdays at 7.00pm in the Men’s Shed.

BARDIC FESTIVAL:

The Ballydonog­hue Bardic Festival is taking place from Thursday March 22nd to Sunday 25th. The inaugural festival kicks of on this Thursday 22nd with mass in Irish at 7.30pm in St Teresa’s Church, Ballydonog­hue.

There is a very exciting lineup of workshops for adults and children during the festival. Official opening on Friday, March 23rd at The Thatch at 8.00pm. Free concert on Saturday night, March 24th at Tomáisín’s Function Room at 8.00pm. Coffee and scones as Gaeilge with Joe Murphy on Sunday morning at The Thatch from11.00am to 12.00 noon followed by Open Mic session 12.00noon 2.00pm. ST. BRENDANS AC:
