BEREAVEMENT:

In the past few weeks, the community was once again plunged into sadness with the sad passing of a number of lovely people. John Walsh R.I.P. of Larha died suddenly on Thursday 8th March, John was a regular at Saturday night Vigil Mass in St Michael’s Church in Bally and many would see and meet the very devoted very quiet and holy man on a regular basis. To John’s family of brothers Pat and James, sisters Joan, Maresa, Noranne, Ena and Michelle. his sister-in-law Susan, brothers-in-law Gerard, Darren, Christy, James and Johnny, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncle, family relatives, kind neighbours and friends we offer our deepest sympathies. On Monday night March 12th the sad news filtered through of the passing of Joan O’ Carroll (Née Lynch) R.I.P. of Kilcolman, Asdee. Joan was a very kind and active woman who up to a few weeks ago would attend at Sunday Mass in Asdee in a very regular basis. At 97 years, she was very active right up until the end. Indeed many would have known her and her late husband Jimmy very well at this side of the parish, as they were regular visitors to the village up to a short few years ago. To her loving daughters Noreen (Brick), Helen (Hurley), sons John Joe, and Gerard, daughterin-law Anne, grandchildren Paul, Eoin, Orlaith, Carol and Cormac, family relatives, friends and kind neighbours we extend our deepest sympathies.

On Tuesday March 13th last the sad news of the passing of Martin Hunt R.I.P. of Tullahinell South, brought great sadness and an air of loneliness over the community as we lost one of our quietest and finest gentlemen. Aged 64 Martin was an active man who could be seen on a daily basis cycling up and down to Bally for his messages. A quiet man who worked hard all of his life from the time he left the “Teck” in Listowel right up until recently. He spent a number of years also at O’ Sullivan’s Hardware where he made numerous friends and acquaintances. Coming from a large family of 12, 5 Girls and 7 Boys all except Martin left these shores in search of a better life at early ages. But none of the family lost contact with Martin and would visit on a regular basis. It is to Martin’s family of his loving brothers Brendan, Derry, Larry, Charlie and Mossie, his sisters Maureen and Ann, brothers-inlaw Eamon, Pat and Jeff, sistersin-law Ita, Maryann and Breda, nephews, nieces, family relatives, kind neighbours and wide circle of friends that we offer our deepest sympathies at this time. Martin’s body lay repose at Lynch’s Funeral Home, Ballylongford, on Thursday, 15th March, last followed by arrival to St. Michael’s Church, Ballylongford on Friday afternoon for Requiem Mass at 2pm, with burial afterwards at Lislaughtin Abbey, Ballylongford. Sympathy is also extended to the Stack family of Tullahinell on the sad passing of Michael (Mike) Stack R.I.P. of Cairo Lampost Motel and Pub, Catskills, New York who died peacefully on Tuesday 13th March last. To his sister Peg Moloney and brothers Phil (Tullahinell), Jim (Rusheen), and Pat and Brendan, family relatives, and friends we extend our deepest sympathies at this time. Funeral took place in New York. May they Rest In Peace.
