Sun shines down on another great Fenit cycle
The sun shone down on the cyclists of Munster on Saturday as they endured another great year of the Fenit Annual Coastal Cycle.
It was another year of success for the cyclists as an extradorinary €10,000 was raised for St Brendan’s National School in Fenit. The cycle underwent a few changes this year with the route changed due to an accident along the main route, however this did not cause the cyclists determination to waver from what they set out to do.
The cycle was a huge success and saw people from all over Munster take part. There was nothing but amazing feedback from the crowd that watched.
“It was a fantastic success this year. Over 300 people showed up and the weather was amazing,” John Quilter, who helps to organise the cycle every year, told The Kerryman
“We were lucky with how it went,” he continued.
Due to the change of route, the day saw the cycle kicking off in Fenit but instead of going to Tralee the cyclists turned off for Spa and cycled through Adrfert.
“The whole community always comes together for it. We got great feedback, everyone had a great day. We had people from Cork, Clare and Limerick cycling and in the crowd. It was amazing to see”, John said, adding that the day is always a way to get people together.
While the numbers weren’t as high as last year John was still really happy with the turnout as the cycle raised €10,000. The money will be give to the local primary school in Fenit, St Brendan’s National School.
