Booming big bank holiday weekend on way with history fest

IT’S set to be a memorable May Bank Holiday weekend for Listowel once more as the annual colourful commemorat­ion of all things military gets underway, this time as the rebranded Listowel History Festival.

Formerly the Listowel Military Tattoo, it’s back this year with a programme choc-ful of fun and interest for all the family; bringing in the new event this year of the Kingdom Comic Fest.

Over the last few weeks the committee have been releasing teasers on social media of what is to be expected of the fun-filled weekend.

The weekend will include, for the first time, a comic book festival celebratin­g movies, TV shows and comic books. Over the past few weeks the public have gotten a glimpse of what the weekend will hold.

As well as stalls and vendors being present at the event some very famous figures from 70’s and 80’ movies and tv shows will be there. some of these include KIT the famous car from the TV series nightrider, Baltar will be sending a Cylon from Battle Star Galactica and a motorbike from the tv series CHiP’s will be present. The weekend will also include a Band of Brother’s battle re-enactment. The famous A Team van will also be on display over the weekend.

The event that takes place on Sunday May 6 in The Arms Hotel will be part of the Listowel History Festival on May 4 to 6.

The festival is aimed to bring the older generation­s and the younger generation­s together buy using both war re-enactments and a comic book festival.

It is set to be a wonderful weekend in Listowel and a great way to kick-start the Summer.
