ST. BRENDANS AC

Congratula­tions to Darragh Courtney who won the gold medal in the U18 high jump at the national indoor championsh­ips on Saturday last in Athlone. Darragh leaped to a super 1.90m to win the title. He had already won the Munster gold last month.

This Friday night the county awards event will be held in Kenmare and St Brendan’s AC will have a strong presence. The club stars will be announced on the night in recognitio­n of their achievemen­ts over last year.

Outdoor training is beginning this Wednesday evening for all juveniles from U7 upwards in the astro-turf pitch in Banna Beach Hotel from 7 to 8pm. New members are welcome. Adult training begins shortly also.

A cheque was handed over to the Maurice Collins Vintage Day committee last week by St Brendan’s after the well-supported Vintage Day fun run hosted by the club to raise funds for Down Syndrome Kerry and Kerry Hospice Foundation. Thanks to all athletes and volunteers who helped to make the event a success.

Well done to Ben O’Connor who was awarded his full marathon wristband at Tralee Junior Parkrun on Sunday for completing 21 parkruns.
