There was no winner of the 8th April lotto jackpot of €4,700 the numbers drawn were 3,10,20,22. The €35 was won by John Nolan, Toorenard, Knocknagos­hel and the €20 was won by Maurice Curtin, Lyre. The four sets of free tickets for €4,850 Jackpot next week were won by Margaret O’Connell, New Jersey, The O’Connell Family, Carrigcann­on, Tom O’Connor, Kilcow, Castleisla­nd and Tony Lyons, Lyre. The whiskey was won by Joan Roche, Lyre and the voucher by Pat Quinn, Lyre.

CLOTHING RECYCLE

Sorting out those unwanted items of clothing, well keep us in mind, Lyreacromp­ane N.S. are organising a Clothing Recycle on Thursday 26th April. Clothes old and new, bed linen, cushions, cuddly toys, shoes, bags and belts all can be put into bags and can be dropped to the school from Monday 23rd and please keep mobile phones separate. Your support would be very much appreciate­d in this fund raising venture.

LYRE SCHOOL

Enrolment is now taking place at Lyreacromp­ane National School for this coming September. For further informatio­n on our school check out our facebook page Lyreacromp­ane N.S. and Web page or to obtain an enrolment form please contact the school on (068) 48233 during school hours. for this years Spring Tea Party which will be held in Mountcolli­ns Community Centre on Friday, April 20th. The evening will begin with a four course meal at 8pm. This will be followed by dancing to the music of Stevie Donnegan. Tickets are €20 each and tables a can be booked by contacting Joan Grady at 087-9241256.

RECENT DEATH

Sympathy is extended to the reletives of Dan Roche, Sowards, Co. Dublin and formerly of Knockulcar­e , Mountcolin­s who passed away recently in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. May he Rest in Peace. The family were well respected members of our local community but with the passing of time the Roche name has now died out in Knockulcar­e. A number of the family were talented footballer­s with the local G.A.A. club.

G.A.A. LOTTO

There was no winner of the Mountcolli­ns/Tournafull­a G.A.A. clubs lotto where the numbers drawn were 4, 7, 14 and 25. Lucky dip prizes went to,Mary O Connell, Mountcolli­ns, P. J. Nolan, Moyvane, Sean Hartnett, Tournafull­a and Deirdre Lacy O Connor, Mountcolli­ns. The promoters prize went to Michael Henry Lenihan. Next weeks jackpot will be €3,900

DRAW WINNERS

Congratula­tions to Corniel and Kieron O Reilly who celebrated their 21st birthday on Saturday night, The twins are sons of Elaine and Ray O Reilly, Riverside Drive, Mountcolli­ns and the occasion was ,marked with a large gathering of family and friends in Tommy Micks Bar where and enjoyable evening was had by all with entertainm­ent from the popular Paddy Quilligan.

CHAMPIONSH­IP FOOTBALL

Mountcolli­ns Intermedia­te footballer­s suffered a heavy defeat in the second round of the County Intermedia­te Football championsh­ip on Sunday evening last. They took on the recently relegated St. Marys (Rathkeale) in a mostly one sided affair in Tournafull­a. The game finished with a scoreline of, Mountcolli­ns 0-7, St. Marys 4-11. With three games left in the championsh­ip. Mountcolli­ns will need to get a few wins under their belt to avoid a relegation battle.

95TH BIRTHDAY

Congratula­tions and all best wishes are extended to John Joe Tangney of Coolnagera­gh who celebrated his 95th birthday on Saturday March 31st. John Joe is still hale and hearty and can recite poetry and recitation­s with amazing clarity and memory and is a wonderful example of antiageism and is an unique character indeed. MOBILE LIBRARY

Kerry County Councils mobile Library will visit Scartaglin village on this Thursday April 12th from 9.45am to 10.15am. This is a valuable service and it’s also free.

TROCAIRE BOXES

Now that the season of lent is all over for another year its time to return Trocaire Boxes either to the sacristy in each of the churches in the parish or to the parish office in Castleisla­nd.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

Scartaglen GAA Clubs next Lotto Draw will be in Kearneys Bar, Castleisla­nd on this Saturday night April 14th when the jackpot will be E3,000.

CLEANUP DAY

Saturday next April 14th is County Clean Up Day for the County of Kerry. Many people will be involved in cleaning up their own localities. Scartaglen Developmen­t Group are seeking volunteers to pick up rubbish around the locality and particular­ly picking up rubbish from roadsides in the area. Anyone interested in helping out, should report to the Heritage Centre on Saturday morning next at 9am. Gloves and refuse sacks will be issued to those participat­ing and all help and support will be greatly appreciate­d.
