ASDEE TIDY TOWNS

We are very fortunate to have a beautiful grotto in our village. It is a lovely serene sacred space, which is admired by the many visitors to our area during the summer months when it is looking its best.

Asdee Tidy Towns has been responsible for the maintenance of the grotto and improvement works for the past 8 years. It was a great achievement in the Tidy Towns competition to increase our points by 15 in 2014. The improvement works undertaken in the grotto were highly commended by the judges in their report that year due to the kind sponsorship of two beautiful stone seats by Asdee Pioneer’s Association.

We want to make it known to the wider community that Asdee Tidy Towns have secured a much needed grant of €1,500 to replace the railing and the gate at the grotto in our village. We hope to commence this work as soon as possible as this project was earmarked since last year as a necessity.

We are privileged to have this beautiful grotto in our midst and to have received the funding to further enhance it

IFA

Pat O Shea Kerry IFA Chairperson of the Hill Committee has received a number of calls in the last week about dogs worrying sheep and in two cases where sheep have been killed.

Mr. O Shea is now advising farmers of their right to shoot dogs that are found worrying sheep. Mr O Shea says there are far too many dog owners not taking the responsibility that goes with owning a pet as serious as they ought to. There are between 300 to 400 reported attacks in Ireland each year with losses of upwards of 4000 sheep.Farmer’s take seriously the health and wellbeing of their flock and as much as they dislike shooting dogs they will do so .

So please be a responsible dog owner and insure that your pet is under your control at all times day and night.
