TIDY TOWNS

Ballybunion Tidy Towns are asking for everyone’s assistance regarding our issue with unwanted outdoor political and commercial signs. It is our position, as it is with many Tidy Towns groups around Ireland, that these types of signs are a form of litter detracting from our community and destroying the paint on many of our utility and traffic poles.

It is frustrating for us, as a volunteer organization having invested many hours into painting said poles and beautifying our community, to see our town blighted with unnecessary signs especially during election times and the tourist season. Therefore, we are asking you to support our efforts to keep our outdoor community litter and sign free.

On the other hand, we understand the need for advertising and getting the message out.

Therefore, we are asking that political parties, initiative campaigns and commercial businesses keep their posting of signs off poles, verges, ditches or other outdoor locations within the town limits, but restrict them (with landowner’s permission) to indoors or beyond our 3 town entrances: Gortnaskeha, Rahavanig and Ballyeigh townlands. Furthermore, we ask that any installation of said signs and their removal be done in a timely manner.

Ballybunion Tidy Towns thanks you for your understanding and help in this issue that will keep our community sign free like all other communities in Ireland.
