Killarney Celtic 10 Mastergeeha 0

KILLARNEY Celtic moved nine points clear a the top of the table with a facile win over neighbours Mastergeeha on Saturday evening. Stephen McCarthy (3), Wayne Sparling (2), Cathal O’Shea (2), Danny Roche Peter McCarthy and Gary Keane scored for the winners.

This brings their unbeaten league run to 13 games and they appear to be the side to beat this season. They now just need a point from their remaining three games to book their place in the final.

Elsewhere, it is now a two-horse race between Killarney Athletic and Dingle Bay Rovers for the second spot in the decider with the likelyhood of a play-off a possibility.

At present Killarney Athletic and Dingle are level on 28 points with both having three games left to play. Dingle’s remaining games are against Fenit twice and Tralee Dynamos, while Killarney Athletic have to play Fenit and Tralee Dynamos also, but there is one very strern test as they have to play fellow townies Killarney Celtic and that could be the game that decides Athletic’s fate in their bid to defend their title.

This huge game is down for decision at Celtic Park this Friday evening and it is a must win game for Athletic because if the don’t take maximum points they could be surrendering their Premier A title by the end of the season.

This is a game Celtic will be doing their utmost to win having lost to Athletic is last

year’s final while Athletic of course will also want to win not only for bragging rights but also to ensure they make another league final.

It is a game Celtic don’t need to win as they will almost definitely be in the final as they only need a point from their last 3 league games to achieve this.

The stakes could not be any higher in this game for the current league champions and a fascinating game is in prospect.

The kick off on Friday evening is 7 30pm and the game should attract a huge attendance to Celtic Park for the eagerly awaited showdown.
