K-Fest Music & the Arts

-

ESTABLISHED in 2013, K-Fest has become a cutting edge festival in the cultural life of Kerry giving a platform to tremendous local talent, along with national emerging artists of all disciplines enabling them to exhibit and display their work.

Its success is manifest in the fact that each year it features over 100 selected artists across many bespoke pop-up galleries based in disused spaces throughout Killorglin; 30 emerging bands and musicians, and over 50 events and performances covering genres form the arts to family fun events also take place.

This wide-ranging festival is organised by over 30 volunteers and is never the same from year to year as it always looks to evolve and meet changing themes, activities and performers. This helps make K-Fest a new experience for both locals and tourists. The K-Fest committee is a combination of young and old, friendly and inventive volunteers.

In addition, the town of Killorglin benefits immensely from this festival with an increase in business, as well as the promotion of the town as a cultural and musical centre. The social response has been tremendous and this is another successful festival added to Killorglin’s calendar of events. The opportunities it provides for local and emerging artists can’t be stated enough. It’s the combination of community activism that makes it such a vibrant organisation.
