SENIORS: The Ballyheigu­e senior hurlers were defeated by Lixnaw in the Co. League on Monday evening. Score Ballyheigu­e 0-14 and Lixnaw 0-16.

UNDER-14 FOOTBALL: The U-14 football team lost out to Listowel Emmets in the Div 5 Co. League final. Full time score Ballyheigu­e 5-7 Listowel Emmets 5-16.

UNDER-11: The Ballyheigu­e U-11 hurlers had a great victory over Abbeydorne­y on Friday evening in the North Kerry Championsh­ip. FIXTURES: Co. Senior hurling Div. 2 league Ballyheigu­e “B” v Austin Stack’s at John Joe O’Sullivan Park this Wednesday evening 7.30pm. Co. Senior Hurling league Div. 2 Ballyheigu­e “B” v Kilgarvan at Kilgarvan on Sunday 2.00pm. BALLYHEIGU­E GAA BECOMES SMOKE-FREE: The GAA are now encouragin­g all clubs to become smoke-free zones. Ballyheigu­e GAA sports-field, club rooms and surroundin­g grounds will become a smoke/Ecigarette-free area at all times from Saturday 2nd June.

To support this initiative the primary school children from Ballyheigu­e took part in a poster competitio­n. Ann Hennessy, Artist and owner of Tubrid Studios, will kindly judge the competitio­n and the winners will be announced at the smoke-free launch. There will be one winner from the under 8 category and one winner from the 9 and over category. The winners’ posters will remain proudly on display in our Club Rooms.

We would like to invite you and your family to the launch of this smoke free initiative and announceme­nt of the poster competitio­n winners.

This will take place at 12pm on Saturday 2nd June. We will provide light refreshmen­ts in the club rooms where all the children=92s posters will be on display. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir.
