41 CARD DRIVE: We will host our annual charity 41 card game on Wednesday May 30th at 9pm in the clubhouse. This year’s beneficiary is the Listowel branch of Kerry Parents and Friends. Everyone is welcome to come along on the night to support this worthy cause. Club Draw We will hold Draws 11 and 12 in the clubhouse this Wednesday evening at 8.30pm just before the cards. RESULTS COUNTY SENIOR LEAGUE DIV 2 - Round 5 Na Gaeil 4-16 V Emmets 4-06

Last Sunday an under strength Emmets seniors took on Na Gaeil in round 5 of the County League in Tralee. Conor Cox opened the scoring with a perfectly hit 45 five minutes into the game as Listowel looked to settle quiet well. Na Gaeil responded quickly however reeling off four points of their own from Diarmuid O Connor, Diarmuid Herlihy, Seamie O Neill and Stefan Okunbar. The home side were beginning to find their rhythm and hit the back of the net with a great finish by Dan Goggin leaving Shane Quinn with no chance. Cox and Noel Kennelly slotted over another two points to put Listowel back in the game before Okunbar fired over his second score from play before Dan Goggin took on the Listowel defense and raised the green flag yet again for the Tralee side. Sam Tarrant added two more points from frees to keep the scoreboard ticking over for Listowel who in truth were finding it difficult to cope with Na Gaeils powerful running game and right on the stroke of half time the home team pounced on a breaking ball to go in at half time leading 3-7 to 0-6.

Na Gaeil opened the scoring in the second half with a point from Andrew Barry after some good work from Okunbar out around the middle. Emmets went on the next attack and put a high ball in to Noel Kennelly who easily turned his man with a great dummy solo and put the ball past Eamon O’Neill to try and revive the North Kerry men. Na Gaeil responded with five points in a row, with Diarmuid O’Connor responsible for three of these. Next came the start of a purple patch for the away side as they went on the break and pulled back three goals of their own with good running and passing from midfield as Graeme Tarrant calmly slotted the ball to the back of the net before Conor Cox added two more in the dying moments. In the last play of the game Padraig O Sullivan settled matters with a good finish for Na Gaeil to seal the win and leave them sitting pretty just behind Desmonds at the top of the table. Another loss by Emmets leaves them with a lot of work to do as we near the halfway point of the campaign. Members of the Listowel convent school band

- Ava McElligott, Triona B Kennedy and Katelyn Shine played the Boro, the Ashes, An Ghleann and the Rural Rangers teams around the park. First off was the B final where The Ashes captained by Caoimhe Lynch and Dylan Twomey took on the Rural Rangers skippered by Emilie Browne and Patrick McCormack. As Colman O’Flaherty threw in the ball The Ashes took off in an attack led by John Breen and a great score from Daniel Shine opened the scoring and the Ashes never looked back. The Rural Rangers defended well and playing some good football failed to capitalise on their possession. Caoimhe Lynch was in command of the back line as she fed her lively forward line of Daniel Shine and Eoghan Hudson who found scores at their ease. The Ashes ran out winners and a jovial Billy presented Dylan Twomey and Caoimhe Lynch with the B final Sheild. Congratulations to team mentors and all players on a very sporting game. The Boro and An Ghleann met in the A final and this game lived up to expectations as Seamus Mulvihill threw in the ball it was tit for tat throughout the first half a nice one two between Ajay Barrett and Blake Finnucane saw the latter point from close range. Adam Heffernan playing in the backs found Robbie Scanlan linking well with Jayden Chute and Michael Harris who took a lovely score.

The first half saw a great spread of scores from both sides with Holly Walsh, Blake Finnucane, Edel Dillane and Ajay Barrett getting on the scoreboard for An Ghleann as they led by one at the break. As the second half took off Jayden Chute led from the centre and got fast ball into Rachel Lynch and Michael Harris who took two quick scores. Aoife Sweeney had the better of her opponent as she linked well with Robbie Scanlan who took his second score of the evening. Jayden Chute asserted his dominance at midfield aided by Ben McElligott and Michael Harris. Clodagh Houlihan and Jayden Chute put over two great scores. An Ghleann never gave up but some excellent defending by Adam Heffernan, Aoife Sweeney ensured the Boro remained in front and were crowned A Final Champions. Robbie Scanlan and Anne Browne were presented with the shield from Billy Keane. Congratulations to both teams and their mentors.

THE JUNIOR JOHN B KEANE LEAGUE also took place and the ever jovial Simon O’Flynn entertained the crowds with his own rendition of Lovely Listowel aided by the u8 girls & boys. It truly was a wonderful occasion and a credit to the Coiste na nOg, a big thank you to the organisers and in particular to our referees who officiated over the entire league. And finally to the Keane family who have kindly sponsored the league for the last fifteen years. Mile buiochas. Emmets U14’s are County Champions! Well done to our U14’s who beat Ballyheigue to win Div 5 of the County League. Congratulations to all involved!
