ANNASCAUL continue to hold top spot and an unbeaten run but they really had to salvage matters in the second half of last la Friday’s West Kerry derby with Junior champions c Lispole. The hosts had led by 2-5 2 to 0-6 at the break but goals from Jason Hickson and Cathal Firtear turned matters in Annascaul’s favour in the end as they returned re home 2-10 to 2-8 winners. Their advantage at the top is now two points but theyh will view this weekend’s game with St Pats/Blennerville as another chance to solidify their position at the summit.

St Pats had actually played the previous evening e (Thursday) as a 3-16 to 2-10 victory over Finuge put them firmly in the midst of the th promotion battle. The St Brendans side registered re 1-3 in the opening 10 minutes, Willie li Hurley their goalscorer, as it was the 11th minute before John Griffin scored Finuge’s first point. They would trail by 10 points at the break however as David O’Callaghan’s penalty crept in with the aid of the post but it counted in the hosts leading by 2-8 to 0-4 at half-time. Despite extending it to 11 points after the restart, St Pats had to withstand a Finuge fightback and a run of 2-3 without reply as part of it. Gary Hogan and Shane Conway scored the goals before it took a big save from St Pats goalkeeper John Fitzgerald to deny Darragh Shanahan getting in for what would have been a potentially crucial third goal for the North Kerry side.

St Pats found the net for a third time however through Paul McMahon as they are in a share of third spot with St Senans on eight points in the table. Brosna are in sole possession of second however with a six point win at home to Keel putting on nine points. They might have conceded

the first two points in both periods but the only goal of the game would be scored by them. Patrick Moriarty appeared to have given Brosna the lead at half-time but Martin Burke replied for Keel to send the sides in level at 0-6 apiece. The scores dried up for the visitors in the second period but Shane Curtin was impressive in giving Brosna control as Kieran O’Donnell scored the game’s only goal in the 47th minute. Gary Sayers drove a penalty narrowly wide for Keel in a 1-12 to 0-9 defeat as they remain in the relegation zone.

Two first half goals were crucial for St Senans in them getting the better of fellow North Kerry side Ballydonoghue by seven points in Mountcoal. Mark Behan and Jason Browne combined to put Damian Somers through for the first goal as Barry Mahony was alert to a quickly taken free for their second. A double block by Brendain Whelan and Sean T Dillon was crucial in preventing Ballydonoghue getting a goal at the other end as Senans led by 2-6 to 0-5 at half-time. Jack Foley and Paul Kennelly tried to inspire Ballydonoghue in the second period but they went down by 2-12 to 0-11 as another relegation battle looms for them. Listry pulled themselves up into the top half however with a 3-11 to 1-11 victory over Laune Rangers that leaves the Killorglin side in big trouble at the other end. Listry scored two goals inside the opening three minutes to allow the game be played on their terms. Cian Bradley scored the first inside the opening minute before Gary O’Sullivan followed up with the second not long after. It meant they led by 2-4 to 0-4 at the break despite three Daire Cleary points and an effort from Podge Murphy for the visitors. Danny Wren scored a third goal for Listry to compound their advantage as despite Cleary finishing with 1-8 for Rangers (his goal from a penalty), they lost out by 3-11 to 1-11 and must try and reverse their Intermediate Relegation Playoff defeat to Brosna this coming weekend when the two sides meet again.

Dr Crokes B went above Waterville in the table in the other fixture played after a 1-16 to 2-6 win that puts them in the top half of the table on seven points with Listry.
