Premier A crown for Killarney Celtic

- MIKE RICE WITH ALL THE NEWS FROM THE KERRY DISTRICT LEAGUE

SPEAKING after the game the manager of the Celtic side Eoghan Donnellan said he was delighted to win the Premier A title again.

“We lost two finals over the last two years so it is a huge relief to win this one. It was always going to be a titanic struggle against Dingle as they are a very strong side who put us to the pin of our collars to win.

“Our level of fitness and experience in the FAI Junior Cup and Munster Junior Cup stood to us in this game and got us over the line at the end. At the start of the season our main priority was to win Premier A and we are delighted now that we have it done. We are a squad team and we have lads on the bench who can come on and fill the shoes of any player. We showed our desire and hunger to win at the end getting the goal at such a crucial stage of the game.”

The team captain John McDonagh also said he was delighted to win the league title again.

“While we put a lot of emphasis on the FAI Junior Cup and Munster Junior Cup our main aim from the start of the season was to win Premier A. It is a relief more than anything else to win after losing two finals in two years. We done a good job and just got over the line at the end.

“Of course, we are not finished yet as we can pull off the league and cup double. That’s why were are holding over the big celebrations until after the Greyhound Bar Cup Final.”
