Kerry GAA and South Kerry Board are main winners at Race of Champions

THE annual Kerry GAA Night of Champions was held last Friday at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium and featured the Kerry GAA Supporters Club Race of Champions, with €15,000 to the winner and an overall prize fund of €21,000. The winner was Clonbrien Hero.

The Kerry Group sponsored Club Sweepstake final was the important race for the clubs twinned with the six dogs who reached the final. The race was won by Srasota Black, which was twinned with the South Kerry Board.

A huge thank you to the organising committee for a brilliant ‘Night of Champions’ and thanks also to the sponsors. The prize winners on the night were: Buster Prize winners: 1st: Ruth Allen Killarney, 2nd: Coiste na nÓg; Best Dressed Lady, sponsored by Diane Jeffers of The Jasmine Boutique, was Kate Kirby of Ardfert. Winners of Garvey’s Supervalu hampers: Mary O’Sullivan, Cahercivee­n, Mike Moriarty, Churchill, Tom Dillon, St. Senans and Tralee, and Tom Holly, Tarmons. Jaxon Henare won the Luxury Fur Wrap sponsored by Jasmine Boutique. Con Griffin, Killarney, Bridget Purthill, USA and Pat McKenna won the Kerry jersey, football and hurley & sliotar respective­ly.

THE Kerry Senior football team will face Cork in the Munster Final on Saturday, June 23 in Pairc Uí Chaoimh. The game is preceded by the Minor game which involves Kerry and Clare at 4.30pm. Tickets are now on sale - Adult Stand pre-purchase: €35, Adult Terrace pre-purchase: €25, Juvenile Stand & Terrace: €5, Student/Seniors will receive €10 concession with valid ID at the designated stile prior to entry. Adult prices increase by €5 at midnight June 22. Tickets are available for purchase in the Kerry GAA store Killarney, via gaa.ie/ tickets and in participat­ing Centra and Supervalu Outlets.

The Kerry GAA Supporters Club will take coaches to the Munster Final in Cork on June 23. All seats must be booked by Thursday June 21, the times are as follows - Listowel 12 noon, Tralee 12.30pm and Killarney 1pm. Membership cards now available for 2018, all travelling must have a valid card to travel on coaches. THE Kerry U-20s face Limerick in Newcastle West on Friday at 7pm. This is a new age grade competitio­n and Kerry will be hoping to do well in the inaugural year. New rules prevent players who have played Senior Championsh­ip playing in the U-20 grade so as result Seán O’Shea and David Clifford are ineligible for selection. However, given the Minor success in Kerry in recent years, Jack O’Connor and his selectors still have a very talented squad to select from. The U-20 team will be announced at 1pm on Thursday on the Kerry GAA website.

The Kerry Juniors are in action in the Munster Final on Wednesday June 27 at 7.30pm. They face Cork in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. THE Inter-Firm board will be holding its AGM on Thursday June 21 in the Plaza Hotel Killarney at 9pm. The meeting is open to all interested organisati­ons who are entering or considerin­g entering this year’s championsh­ip or any individual who may want further informatio­n on the competitio­n.
