The children attending swimming instructio­n in Banna had their Swimming Gala to round up another successful year of swimming lessons.Kelly, Clíona and Jessica finished up their dance classes with a Feis where they danced jigs and reels to the delight of their audience. DRUMMING WITH MARTIN

Martin Schaerer, an experience­d music teacher, workshop facilitato­r and performer visited the school on Tuesday to introduce the children to the joy of drumming. Martin conducted a workshop with each class in the school.

Board Games Still Popular: On Thursday 7th June the children in Kilmoyley National School had great fun as they tried out the new board game Marathon X. ‘Marathon X’ board game was created to bring people together through a series of tasks, that promotes social interactio­n, education and fun. Marathon X is fast paced with various exciting challenges that tested their mental strength and ability to react before others. Lots of laughter was heard throughout the school as the children reviewed the game.

The club had a very successful weekend at two different Munster championsh­ips last weekend. At the senior and masters championsh­ips on Sunday, Darragh Courtney got a bronze with a super leap of 1.95m in the senior high jump. Aaron Malik ran a gallant 400m final also in the senior category. In the masters’ events, St Brendan’s athletes won an amazing 13 Munster medals, with Patrick O’Riordan having a double gold win in the O65 long jump and high jump. Ursula Barrett won 3 silver medals in the women’s O40 100m, 200m and long jump. David Kissane got a gold medal in the O60 400m and 3 silver medals in the 800m, javelin and shot. David Butler got 2 silver medals in the O35 javelin and shot while his father Martin Butler also got 2 silvers in the O65 javelin and shot.

On Saturday in the Munster juvenile U9 to U11 team games, Ben O’Connor and Conor O’Sullivan got bronze medals in the U9 60m sprint and qualified for the All Irelands on July 1st. Well done to Eoin Malik, Darragh O’Flaherty, Max Fitzgerald and Kevin Horgan who all performed with great skill on the day. Well done also to Eimear O’Sullivan who had a great race in the U16 3,000m after doing exams on the previous days.

The club road runners will be in action in Ballyheigu­e on this Saturday in the “half on the head” half-marathon and 10k event.

The Jubilee celebratio­ns continue with a special Mass at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 16 following by entertainm­ent and food in the Marquee. The exhibition in the main Church from 8am - 10pm.
