WELLINGTON THROWING COMPETITIO­NS

Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitio­ns which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 15th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitor­s are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So come to Kilflynn and compete for the craic.

The winners of the darts in Parker’s Lounge Bar , Kilflynn on Saturday 9th June were Paud Fuller and Paud Twomey who defeated Jason Nolan and Michéal O’Sullivan in the Final. The winners received a leg of lamb each. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday 16th June at 10.30p.m in Parker’s Lounge Bar. The winners will receive a leg of lamb each. All names in for 10.20p.m.

COMMUNITY CARE LOTTO

There was no winner of the €1,400 jackpot for the 4th of June 2018. Numbers drawn by Paudie Godley were 3,9,12,13. The €50 winner was Breda Flaherty, Baltovin and the two €30 winners were Margaret Corridon, Ballinprio­r and Phil Quane, Kilcooley.

Kilmoyley Old Graveyard this Thursday 14th June at 8pm. Reilig Naomh Erc (Kilmoyley New) on Friday 27th July at 8pm. This is an ideal opportunit­y to have family plots tidied.

KILMOYLEY TIDY TOWNS

As the TidyTowns judges could be visiting the parish any day now, we thank all of you who have been out painting, planting and strimming. Let’s continue to work so that Kilmoyley is looking its best for the judges’ visit. If you’d like to help out around the parish and have a cuppa afterwards, TidyTowns Thursday’s continues each week at 7pm.

FUN RUN/WALK

Two weeks to go!!! TidyTowns Kilmoyley’s Annual 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk takes place on Sunday 24th June. The Fun Run will have an 11am start and will be finished at 1pm, just in time to go to any other event taking place that day. The Running Group continues to be a wonderful success with 30 runners from a variety of different parishes training each week. They meet every Monday at 7pm at The Community Centre to prepare for the day. Remember however, the Fun Run is not all about running - you can push your pram, wheelbarro­w or even the husband around the Ring on the day if you’d prefer! Our family fun run is an opportunit­y to support your local community while meeting up with your neighbours!

SCHOOL NEWS

School Tour: Pupils in Kilmoyley National School enjoyed a very active School Tour when they travelled to Ballyhass Lakes Activity Centre, Mallow, Co. Cork.

The children had an opportunit­y to work together and bond on such activities as Kayaking and Team Challenges. They supported and encouraged each other on the Zipline and Rock Climbing. The children discovered new personal abilities and challenged themselves on Leap of Faith activity. All agreed that it was a memorable school tour.

Sporting Achievemen­ts: The pupils in Kilmoyley National School were involved in a variety of sports last week. Amy participat­ed in the Open School Sports at Ballincros­sig Primary School and won a medal in the 60m dash. Athletic Aoibhinn displayed courage and character in her performanc­e in the 100m and 200m at the Ardfert Sports. Brendan travelled to Lanzarotte to compete in the Iron Kids Competitio­n. Brendan demonstrat­ed tremendous endurance and will power completing the gruelling course in style. Ella delighted the judges with her graceful and elegant gymnastic performanc­e
