Lawnmower Run success!
WHEN they first thought up the idea for a lawnmower run and family fun evening, the Kerry Lawnmower Club only hoped to raise close to €1,500; yet as organiser Brendan Ferris told The Kerryman on Monday, the event went above and beyond all expectations.
A cheque for €6,002 was presented to Recovery Haven in Sheahans Bar in Killorglin on Friday evening and Brendan said they were delighted to raise funds for such a vital service.“This was a completely new idea that we had and so we never thought there would be much interest in it at all. So, for us to €6,000, that was just phenomenal,” he said.
“Recovery Haven is a fantastic facility to have in the county. A lot of people don’t realise the value of these facilities until god forbid, they or a family member requires it. So, for us to be able to give this much money to them, we are delighted,” he continued. As for the future, Brendan said that he and the rest of the organisers will be sitting down in the near future to discuss the success of the event and they will be coming up with a few plans.
