Jail warning for woman who took bag from bus

-

A LISTOWEL woman who pleaded guilty to the theft of a bag from a bus while it was stopped in Listowel was warned that she will face jail if she fails to complete a community service order and come before the Court again.

Breda Mulcahy, Clieveragh, Listowel, pleaded guilty to the theft of a bag – belonging to an Aimee Lynch – from a bus, while it was stopped in the Square in Listowel on November 17 last.

Her case came before Judge David Waters at Listowel District Court on Thursday, June 21 who was furnished with a Probation Report that had requested at the hearing of the case earlier.

That report found that Ms Mulcahy was suitable for community service.

Judge Waters imposed a community service order of 100 hours’ duration, in lieu of a two-month prison sentence.

Solicitor Pat Enright also informed the court that the injured party had been compensated in the matter.

But Judge Waters’ order was delivered with a very clear warning for Ms Mulcahy - she cannot expect a second chance from the Court should she fail to complete the community service.

“If she doesn’t complete the community service and a summons comes before me, I will not give a second chance,” Judge Waters said.

“I don’t give a second chance. Unless there’s a very good excuse, it will be a custodial sentence,” the Judge warned.
