Local girl opens her new pharmacy in Listowel
TODAY’S pharmacies offer the kind of experience and professional service that is important. One such establishment committed to this concept is the recently opened Doran’s Pharmacy in Listowel which guarantees a warm welcome and professional advice.
Proprietor Norma Doran is delighted by the show of support and warm wishes she has received since the store opened just a few weeks ago, but it’s now a case of getting down to business.
Norma is passionate about making a difference in a friendly and professional manner. At Doran’s Pharmacy they dispense all prescriptions, including medical card and private prescriptions. Norma is available at all times to answer any medical or health related queries. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Community Pharmacy as she wants to broaden her knowledge base enabling her to share it with staff and customers.
“Having access to quick, professional advice is so important in today’s busy world,” Norma said. “And our aim is to provide the best service possible for the people of Listowel and north Kerry.”
As aforementioned, the role of a pharmacy is now very much a collective one offering a detailed, varied and holistic service. At Doran’s Pharmacy, customers can expect a varied list of services.
For example, a weight management program - Lipotrim - is available in store. This is a diet available only through health professionals that results in weight loss at a safe and healthy rate. Norma and staff are available to discuss this with interested clients. An individually tailored smoking cessation program is also available.
A mother of three young children, Norma realises the need to offer good pharmacy surrounds for young mums which is why Norma designed the store to allow easier access for mothers and buggies.
“We have a comprehensive Babycare range in store with top brands NUK, Tommee Tippee, Uriage Baby and Aveeno Baby to name a few. We also stock a beautiful range of baby gifts.”
Doran’s Pharmacy have a solid staff base with a detailed understanding of what the job entails. Catherine and Deirdre have a wealth of experience and training in the health food shop sector, which is handy considering a comprehensive range of vitamins and supplements are offered in store.
A number of exclusive skincare and cosmetic products are also in store. On a recent holiday to France, Norma felt inspired to research some fabulous French ranges like Caudalie and Uriage. Caudalie uses grapevine in its products, while Uriage is one of the leading dermo-cosmetics thermal water brands in the world. Hair consultations are also available as Ryanne is a qualified hairdressing tutor. She is available to advice customers about an exciting new range called ‘Natilique’- a certified organic range of hair colours and products. A large range of tanning products are stocked such as BBold (including the new ultra-dark mousse), Bperfect, Catwalk HQ and Bondi sands.
