Back to the drawing board for O’Dorney says Behan
ABBEYDORNEY chairman Aidan Behan, while obviously being extremely disappointed with their exit from the championship was hopeful for the future given the extensive work being undertaken at under age level.
“Very disappointed, a bit disjointed, we didn’t get the breaks, and look we didn’t take them [scoring chances] and it’s been a bit of the story of our season so far. We have to rebuild, go back to the drawing board, simple as that.
“A good start, but we never really came out in the second half. Our decision making was a bit poor, and, that has cost us in the end. Fifteen wides, you can’t have that in a game and try and get a result.
“Ardfert took their chances and we didn’t, that’s the way to look at it. We found it hard, our forward line was under a lot of pressure to win the ball, Ardfert are a good quality team they defended well.
“We wish them well in the next round and good luck to them.
“A bit different to last year [preparation]. We changed our format. A lot of guys being away with Kerry too has impacted maybe on us and look the age of the team as well we had to change our training pattern.
“A lot of work gone in, a lot of work by Ian [Maunsell] and all of the boys. It’s disappointing, a long hard year, we will have to take stock of it and go again. We’re going very well at minor level and a lot of those lads out there today on that panel as well, so, a lot of work gone in over the years by many different trainers and, look, we are just hoping in the next few years that maybe we might get a bit of success at Minor and Under 16 going forward.
“A lot of work over the years in the parish by different people, so hopefully we can get across the line, maybe, in the next few years.”
