An Ghaeltacht have no answer to fourgoal Dingle in derby

Dingle 4-12 An Ghaeltacht 0-5

THIS West Kerry derby was one with a very one sided second-half, but it was a crucial win for the hosts in terms of lifting them out of the relegation zone and putting An Ghaeltacht’s chances of making another League Final into a bit of doubt now.

The visitors had actually led by 0-3 to 0-2 after the first quarter but a goal for Tomás Sheehy before half-time was timely one in giving Dingle a lead of 1-5 to 0-4.

Two Seán M Ó Conchúir points and single efforts from Éanna Ó Conchúir and Tomas Ó Sé had been An Ghaeltacht’s scores in the first period but they only managed one further point in the second period through Colm Ó Muircheartaigh as goals from Breandán Kelliher and Gareth Hickey-Brosnan had Dingle 3-7 to 0-4 ahead at the three-quarter mark. Billy O’Connor scored their fourth goal on the way to a 19 point win as 12 different scorers contributed to Dingle’s win.

They travel to Templenoe next knowing their chances of staying up have significantly improved, while for An Ghaeltacht they face a Dr Crokes side looking to go unbeaten for a 25th consecutive game in the County League when they meet for the second time this year in Round Nine.
