The late Dermot was a very popular man in the locality, who was very obliging and most helpful at all times. He was a hard working individual and had three great passions in life: farming, politics and drama. He was very well known and liked by all and was a great family and community man who will be very sadly missed by everyone in the community, but most of all by his loving wife Mary and family. The late Dermot is survived by his wife Mary, by his daughter Eileen, son Danny, by his daughter in law Claire and his grandson Andy, by his sisters Joan and Maimie and by his brothers Denis and Dan and by his extended family. The entire parish will greatly mourn Dermot’s passing at a relatively young age. Burial took place in Scartaglen Cemetery on Tuesday last. May he Rest In Peace.

SUNSHINE PLEASURE
The magnificent weather since mid-May has been really enjoyed and appreciated in the locality by everybody.
The beautiful sunshine has dissipated the gloom and worry that had built up over one of the worst WinterS in living memory. The recent good spell has seen the harvesting of fine crops of top quality silage. Hay has made a come-back this Summer due to the very suitable saving conditions. Growth had been excellent with plentiful supplies of grass but has slowed recently due to a lack of moisture. Most of those in the locality who cut turf have their Winter fuel supplies already secured. We have much to be grateful for, buíochas le Dia.
