Friends of UHK preparing for fundraising night at the dogs

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

AFTER the huge success of last year’s fund-raiser, the ‘Friends of University Hospital Kerry’ are going at it again this weekend with another great night at the dogs in store.

This year’s fund-raiser will take place on the night of Friday, July 13, at 7pm.

Last year’s event raised over €70,000 and helped to purchase a Cardiac Echo Scanner for the Cardiac Unit of the hospital.

With another long list of equipment that they hope to donate to the hospital, the group are no doubt hoping that this year will be just as successful.

Examples of some of the equipment which the group is hoping to buy include a specialised ultrasound for the Emergency Department, a scanner to help detect major problems with the bladder, video equipment for the Endoscopy Unit and an instrument for detecting infections in ulcers.

Tickets for the night are set to cost just €5.
