Castlegregory Summer Festival is here again…
IT’S one of the oldest summer festivals in the county which is kudos to the people of Castlegregory who make sure it goes down a treat every July. This year’s Castlegregory Summer Festival runs from July 12 to 15 and it is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
After weeks and months of organising, the vibrant and hardworking sub-committee are delighted to once again put on a great show for locals and tourists. It kicks off on Thursday, July 12 when the official opening takes place in The Waste Garden (opposite Maurice Fitzgerald’s) where the introduction of the Queens and little petals takes place followed by live music with Gaelic brú. “The festival is as popular as every with people, and events like the Half Marathon help to attract extra numbers. People just seem to love these few days in Castlegregory,” said committee member, Maura Cronin.
Friday sees a sumptuous ‘cupcake decorating workshop’ take place for 7-12 year olds. Booking at the Information Centre is essential (call 066 7139422), and if working off too many cupcakes is necessary why not partake in a ‘Castlegregory’s Fittest Family’ style event? This is a fun obstacle course with groups of four in which family, friends and clubs can take part. Friday also sees an exciting prosecco party at Moe’s cafe and courtyard. And don’t forget the ‘revival disco’ with DJ Andrew in Pearse Hall.
