Some ‘vintage’ Friday fare

-

This year’s Kingdom Veteran Vintage & Classic Car and Honda 50 Run will leave the spacious yard of Ó Riada’s Bar and Restaurant in Ballymacelligott on Friday evening, July 27, at 7pm.

And, unlike last year when the event was hit by bad weather on its first attempt, a repeat of that misfortune is not in the forecast.

It was into August last year before the event eventually got going.

There was a silver lining though as the publicity generated by the postponement drew over 90 cars and bikes.

Because of this, it wound up raising well over €2,000 for its adopted charity, Down Syndrome Kerry.

This year, the ninth annual running of the event, the cavalcade will leave Ó Riada’s and head towards Tralee to the roundabout near Ballygarry House Hotel.

From there it will travel on by Kieldubh to Renagown Cross and on for Castleisland. There will be a stop at Daly’s yard at Fahadubh Cross.

Then it’s off down by Dooneen and on to the old road into Castleisland before returning to base in Ballymacelligott.

The inclusion of the Honda 50 riders over the past couple of years has greatly increased the pot for the club’s chosen charity – to which all proceeds will go.

Donations will be taken up by means of a voluntary charity bucket donation.

If you have any queries about the event, you’re advised to contact either George on 087 281 45 45 or Lucy on 087 414 11 58.
