ST. BRENDAN’S AC

St Brendan’s AC had a busy weekend on a number of fronts. At the final weekend of the national juvenile athletics championships in Tullamore, Darragh Courtney got a bronze medal in the high jump with a leap of 1.93m. Aaron Malik was sixth in the discus and also competed in the pole vault. Eimear O’Sullivan was a creditable seventh in the 3,000m with a time of 11-57.94 and will no doubt learn from the experience.

At the Munster B championships in Cork, Ben O’Connor won gold in the undernine long jump and Matthew O’Sullivan got a silver medal in the same discipline at under-11 level. Also competing in these championships with good performances were Aaron and Kevin Horgan, who performed well once again.

On Sunday, St Brendan’s AC took over the running of the junior Parkrun in Tralee and the event was well managed by Moira Horgan and her team. Over 100 children of all ages took part and it was a great occasion. The Parkrun is open to everyone and to all abilities and is aimed at health and fun and is held every Sunday for children at 9.30 a.m. in Tralee. Information is available from the Parkrun site.
