INCH BEACH HALF MARATHON/10K BEACH RUN

Half marathon & 10k run will have separate start times. Half marathon at 10:30am / 10k run at 11:30am. All proceeds go to community projects and nominated charities. - The nominated charities for 2018 are K.I.D.S Kerry Interventi­on & Disability Services and Cuan Counsellin­g. This is a non-profit event organised for your enjoyment.

HERITAGE WEEK

A fantastic event took place last Sunday with the help of Irish Wildlife Trust, Irish Seed Savers and Mossy O’Connor who gave a fabulous talk on Water birds, bats and Freshwater Mussels, Aisling O’Connor our local artist displayed some of her wonderful collection and made a presentati­on on Life Cycle Art. Elizabeth Brookes put in an enormous effort into making this event so interestin­g. Gretta’s herbs was there with local produce. The day was ended with tea/coffee, cosy chats and home- baking supplied by the local children. Inch Beach ParkrunInc­h Beach Parkrun starts at 9.30am every Saturday morning. The committee was formed in 2015 by a group of local residents from all across the community of Annascaul.Throughout the last few years several sucessful training courses have been completed. We organised an essential course in first aid/diphibulat­or. As a result there are fifteen members of our community who are qualified. KETB provided a three week course in biodiversi­ty in which ten residents trained sucessfull­y.

An Teasca provided training on planting Marram grass on Inch beach for the committee in which we held some lovely Sunday mornings protecting our sandunes. Streamscap­es a multi award winning organisati­on trained several people and organisati­ons including Dingle Tidy Towns upstairs at the South Pole Inn on the intervebra­tes of Annascaul river. Annascaul Adventures held a training evening with Conservati­on Bats of Ireland for surveying the Daubenton bats.To our surprise we had families from different parts of Kerry, Limerick and Bray. Birdwatch Ireland organised a training course in birds in Maynooth University. Teachers from all over europe attended. Elizabeth Brookes recieved a certificat­e on completion and is now in a position to visit schools and provide teaching in innovative bird education programmes. Annascaul Adventures are delighted to support Elizabeth and wish to express our gratude on the many biodiversi­ty projects she has organised. Up-coming training events - This October-workshops, The Cottage Herbalist will give training on ferminatio­n and natural cleaning products. This will take place in Annascaul Community Care Centre. NIGHT AT THE DOGS

Annascaul GAA will be holding a fundraisin­g Night at the Dogs at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Saturday 8th September. Tickets, priced at €10, include entry to the rack track on the night and a race programme, and can now be purchased from players and committee members. As well as being a fun night out, this is an important fundraisin­g event for our club developmen­t plans and we look forward to as much support as possible.

MUSIC CLASS

Music class led by local singer ‘Kaiona Solas’ (who featured at this years Annascaul Singing Festival) starting this week. Every Monday from 6:30pm-7:30pm in the Community Centre in Annascaul.
