Love/Hate star in court in Killarney
LOVE/Hate star Barry Keoghan (25) has been disqualified from driving for two years after admitting to a Garda he was using a car without insurance in the Fossa area in November last year.
The star (pictured right), who is currently in the U.S. working on his latest film project, did not attend Killarney District Court where he faced two charges brought under the Road Traffic Act.
Mr Keoghan enjoyed a breakthrough role in the hit crime drama series, ‘Love Hate’. He has since starred in the 2017 blockbuster ‘Dunkirk’ alongside Mark Rylance and Cillian Murphy, as well as ‘ The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ alongside Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.
He faced two charges on Tuesday in Killarney District Court before Judge David Waters.
Detective Garda Stephen Hourigan told the court that, at 1.25pm on November 30 last, he stopped a 2004-registered car driven by Mr Keoghan at Fossa. Det Garda Hourigan said he asked for the production of the driver’s license and insurance.
He said that Mr Keoghan, who has an address at North Clarence Street in Dublin, acknowledged at the scene that valid insurance was not in place.
Judge Waters was told the 25-year-old star has a total of 11 previous convictions, all under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act.
He convicted Mr Keoghan and fined him €250 in addition to the ban. Mr Keoghan was not represented in court. Mr Keoghan’s girlfriend is from Beaufort.
