Traffic plans are announced for Harvest festival race meeting

-

GARDAÍ have provided details of their traffic-management plan for the Harvest Festival race meeting in Listowel, from September 9 to 15.

Racegoers are advised to use car parks available at racecourse locations such as Greenville (entrances off Greenville Road and Convent Street); off the Tralee road; and at Barrett’s Field (entrance off Bridge Road). Parking will also be available at car parks in the town.

All streets in Listowel town will be open, but Gardaí encourage motorists to avoid routes typically used by those travelling to the racecourse.

Traffic from Limerick, Tralee, or Killarney is advised to enter the racecourse at the Tralee Road entrance. Traffic from the Ballybunion direction can park in the Greenville area – but not the Greenville Road – or can enter car parking via Convent Street. Parking is also allowed on the Ballybunion, Railway, and John B Keane roads.

Traffic from Lixnaw, Ballyduff, and Tralee is asked to park off the Greenville road and the course car park at Greenville.

Motorists from the Tarbert direction can park on the John B Keane Road, in the Bridge road car park, and the racecourse car park off Convent street. A one-way system from the Tralee Road entrance is expected to help delays as traffic from Tarbert to Tralee meets race traffic at Listowel Bridge.

No road closures are planned, but temporary access restrictions to Greenville Road from Convent Cross may be necessary. Special needs parking will be available via the Tralee road entrance, with limited spaces via the Greenville entrance.
