Run for Joy family day to say thank you for generous donations

-

TADHG McGillicuddy dropped an email about a committee he and Larry Hickey are involved with and to tell us that their project ‘Run for Joy’ is well into the planning stages.

“This is an appreciation/fundraising day we are organising for Miriam Joy-Fitzgerald,” said Tadhg.

“The day was organised as a way of saying thank you to everyone who donated to the GoFundMe page that was set up a month ago and raised over €230k. We will also be raising funds on the day for Miriam’s treatment.

“The event is planned for Sunday, October 7, and it’s a family, fun-filled day with lots to do.

“It all starts at 11am with a 5k family run. Children go free for the run, and adults pay €10 entry for the race, and they will be entitled to a post race burger back at An Riocht.

“The rest of the day kicks off at An Riocht at 12 noon, with the runners arriving back into the stadium.

“Castlemeats have kindly sponsored the BBQ for the day, and Active Kingdom are supplying a bouncy castle and other activities.

“There will also be a mini rugby blitz for Under-10s and Under-12s in the middle pitch at An Riocht.

“We have a growing list of Kerry GAA stars also who will be in attendance on the day: Marc Ó Sé, Kieran Donaghy, Paul Murphy, Brendan O’Sullivan to name a few,” Tadhg concluded.

Signing up for the 5k can be done from now at An Riocht.

You can call Tadhg on (087) 280 1052 if you have any further queries.
