GREAT SHOWING BY DUAGH
CROWDS FLOCK TO GREAT NIGHT OF MUSIC AT THE DUAGH SPORTS COMPLEX
SUCH was the huge volume of visitors to the Duagh Showbands night last Thursday night, this reporter had to go to a nearby housing estate to find parking!
But with acts such as ‘ The Conquerors’, Linda Martin, Paddy Cole, and Keith and Lorraine on the bill, however, it’s no surprise that the village’s Sports Complex was packed to capacity.
Now into its second year, the ‘Showbands’ night is fast becoming a must-see highlight event in the Duagh social calendar, and this year’s showing did not disappoint. Organising committee member Geraldine McNamara was rightly proud.
“The night was a great success. We were absolutely delighted with it. We’d like to thank everyone that came out on the night and in the run up to the event who supported us,” said Geraldine, speaking last Friday.
“We’d like to thank Shaun O’Dowd and the rest of the entertainers on the night. They were brilliant.
While there were smiling faces all around the stunning marquee set-up on the evening, the air was tinged with just a little bit of sadness as the memory of North Kerry stalwart Fr Pat Moore was remembered on the night.
In a fitting tribute to Fr Pat, a portion from each ticket sale was donated to the Kerry/Cork Health Link Bus service.
“Fr Moore started the hall with us. He was one of the first organisers of building the hall here, so we wanted to keep his memory going and keep his charity work going as well,” she finished.
The concerts return to Duagh next April.
