5 in a row for the Kerry minors! What an achievement congratulations to all involved @Kerry_Official

Kerry minors win five in row but

world champion in the women’s single.

Johnny Casey, a grandson of the legendary Caseys of Sneem, won the men’s single last year.

This year’s course for the championship is on the same stretch of water that the Caseys would have trained and raced in the Seine boat during their heyday in the 1920s and 1930s.

Johnny also teamed up with his brother James and uncle and father, Steve and Patrick, to win the All-Ireland senior men’s four oar 20 years ago. The O’Carroll’s Cove venue was formerly Casey’s Cove ran by Steve.

This year the Courtmacsherry men’s quad crew, who have defeated all comers over the last few years, put their title on the line. Waiting to take them on are the might of Muckross. The all conquering Killarney club Olympian Paul Griffin in their ranks. Paul

has Peter Keane just won the big job?

Regardless of change in age eligibility, it’s a historic five minor football titles in a row for @Kerry_Official as they defeat Galway 0-21 to 1-14 at Croke Park. Paul O’Shea the standout player on the pitch.

Killian Young @killianyoung

Congratulations to all involved over the 5 years

Enda Lynch @austinstacksabu

took part in the Lightweight men’s coxless four final in Athens 2004.

Also lining out are All-Ireland senior men coastal champions Paul Bradley and John Buckley. John represented Ireland at the World Championships in Plymouth in 2009.

Muckross have entered two quad crews and a double. Their double has the novel pairing of former Kerry footballer and crack oarsman, Paul Kennedy, along the legendary oarsman and triathlete Derry Doyle.

Paul stroked the UCD crew to victory over both Oxford and Cambridge at the 2013 Killarney Rowing Festival while Derry has been on an incredible 10-year winning streak at coastal rowing, including a five in a row of veteran men’s titles.

Killorglin, another powerhouse of Kerry rowing, are sending a strong squad. Most notable are

5 in a row, 5 in a row, we’re after doing 5 in a row. ‘Hon the Kingdom

Brendan Kealy @brendankealy

Well done to fellow @KilcumminGAA men Paul O’ Shea (captain),

the Ireland pair of Rhiannion O’Donoghue and Anna Tyther who are just back from representing Ireland in the Coupe and the Home Internationals.

Flesk Valley, Kenmare and Portmagee complete the Kerry contingent.

Local representation of the home parish of Caherdaniel comes from Kathy Galvin from Goulanes who now lives and rows in Cork. She was in the winning quad crew in the finals of the World Championships in Thonon les Bains in France last October and David Hussey from Bracaragh who rows under Portmagee RC in the men’s single.

Portmagee RC also have another single sculler, Bryan Foran. The Valentia native is well known for his exploits in the Seine boat and has been winning races from the start of his career in 1996 to this present year.

Keith O’ Leary & James Foley and all the Kerry Minors on a brilliant win #5inarow

Ciara @ciaramcadam90

Genuinely scared for this Kerry team in the coming years. Imagine David Clifford, Sean O’Shea, Paul Walsh, Paul O’Shea and Dylan Geaney on the forward line!

T.J. Galvin @t_j_galvin147

Wondeful stuff from the Kerry minors. 5 in a row, first time ever in hurling or men’s football. Paul O’Shea gave an exhibition of foot passing out there. Peter Keane will be hard to beat for the senior job. #KERvGAL
