Church thief with screwdriver halted by retired garda
A RETIRED garda came to the rescue this week in west Kerry when he interrupted a male in St Brendan’s Church in Cloghane attempting to break into the donations box.
The man was using a screwdriver to try and pry open the box to get at the money inside.
The man fled the scene immediately and gardaí are seeking information on a black Renault Megane with a 172 D registration.
The incident occurred in St Brendan’s Church in on Sunday, September 9 at around 5pm in the afternoon.
Nothing was stolen in the incident as the thief was disturbed in the act.
