Exciting array of events to keep Listowel entertained this ‘Culture Night’
WITH ‘Culture Night’ in Listowel just around the corner, the full schedule of events in the town has been released - and it sure looks like an action packed night.
Taking place on Friday September 21, Aoife Thornton, Cathaoirleach at Listowel Municipal District said that she is very impressed with the line up at this years event, with the Cathaoirleach reserving special praise for the hard-working and ambitious arts community in the North Kerry Municipal District.
Events over the course of the night will include Book Club Bingo, a Listowel Comhaltas Open House which will consist of singers, dancers, group sessions and a giant audio-visual projection in the Town Square.
The Olive Stack Gallery will be open late in the evening and is offering an insight into the lives of the artists who work from the space.
Culture Night at St John’s opens with an address by Councillor Thornton which will highlight all events in the area and the importance of culture to the Municipal District.
The programme itself is held at St. John’s and commences with an airing of a recent RTE Radio One Documentary. The documentary looks at events in the Parish of Listowel in 1946 between the Church, the local community and the State.
From 8pm that night, St. John’s will become a melting pot of music including, film, literary story, performances and readings that will suit all ages.
Finally, John B’s Bar in Listowel will proceed with their great tradition of music and storytelling for Culture Night.
Guest musicians, local and visiting, will also feature at Christy’s ‘ The Well Bar’ in the Square on the night.
