The Kerryman (North Kerry)

He was an all-round player

-

I SAW Kieran being referred to as the ‘best team-mate ever’ and that is certainly a view I very much concur with. People know all about him on the field and what he has achieved but off it he is very selfless with his time whether that be in the dressing room or as a friend or as an ambassador which he pretty much is for basketball now in Tralee.

While we had been going poorly in 2006, Kieran’s form had been very good in training to get the chance that he eventually got that day against Longford and I think the way he played against Armagh in the Quarter-Final in scoring the goal like he did and getting the better of both Francie Bellew and Paul Hearty showed a lot about his character in being willing to keep going even after a poor first half in that game.

For me he was an all-round player and there was plenty to his game especially his ball skills. Kieran has a great way with people and I am sure someone like David Clifford would have benefitted a lot from being able to learn more about the senior game from him this year.
