AT a meeting of Coiste Scór Chiarraí held at the Austin Stack Park, Pavilion on Thursday September 6th dates for the upcoming Scór competitions for 2018/19 along with the AGM were finalised.

As we approach the celebration of 50 years of Scór founded by the late Derry Gowan, of Fermoy County Cork in 1969 it is very important that every club in the county should make a special effort to participate in at least one discpline in Scór Sinsear, Scór Na nÓg and Scór Na bPaistí in this very special year.

All District Boards in the county are requested to be represented on the night.

All Ireland Finals

THE venue for both Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsear will be the RDS, Dublin with Saturday, February 23 and Saturday, April 13.

District Finals

DISTRICT finals will take place well in advance of County Finals. KILMOYLEY was the perfect setting for the clash of Ballyduff and Abbeydorney inm the Under 16 Hurling Final.

Abbeydorney had the wind in the first half, but also had the wind knocked out of their sails early on as sharpshooter Dylan Moriarty lashed in 1-3 on-the-trot for Ballyduff.

Abbeyorney were missing the influence of Oisin Maunsell, who had ben so impressive in Abbeydorney’s County Minor win, but had a very able deputy in the impresisve Jack Sheehan, who opened their account with a superb goal.

Dylan Moriarty was on a hot streak, though, and clocked up another three points, with Andrew Murphy also on target for Ballyduff. Jack Sheehan made a great goal attempt from a free, but it was superbly saved on the line.

He did add a point from a free, but the elusive Moriarty had already added two more to his tally and Kevin Goulding another. The half-time score was Ballyduff 1-10 Abbeydorney 1-1.

Abbeydorney’s hopes evaporated early in the sunshine; they showed great heart and courage but the relentless speed and intensity of Ballyduff saw them take control and 1-1 from Kevin Goulding and 1-3 from Kevin Goulding and 0-6 from Dylan Moriarty (he finished with a total of 1-14, 11f) to 0-2 from Jack Sheehan meant that there was no way back, despite Abbeydorney’s Sean Murphy hitting the last score of the day.

Ger Hussey on behalf of Coiste na nOg presented the trophy to Ballyduff captain Darragh Shanahan. A big thank you to players, mentors and supporters on both sides and to excellent referee Ian Liston of Lixnaw.
