Castleisland 3 Killarney Celtic 3

DEFENDING champions Killarney Celtic let a threegoal lead slip at Castleisland on Sunday and could only come away with a share of the spoils after a great comeback by the home side.

After a scoreless first half Celtic raced into a 3- 0 lead with goals from Wayne Sparling, Chris Brady and Yukasin Ocic and seemed to be heading for a comfortable win.

As they pressed for more goals Castleisland dug deep and a few great saves from their golakeeper Stephen Bartlett kept the scoreline static.

Then a quadruple series of substitutions by new Castleisland manager Edmund Hartnett turned the tide and goals from Jonathan Downey in the 70th minute from the penalty spot and another from Stephen McCarthy in the 84th minute threw the game into the melting pot.

The home side rescued a point in the 90th minute with Stephen McCarthy scoring his second goal of the game.

Celtic will be very disappointed at letting such a commanding lead slip while Castleisland will be delighted to come away with a point at the end.

Castleisland are always very difficult to beat in their home patch and with more players to come in prospects for the season ahead are looking optimistic.
