LATE NOREEN WALSH

The community was saddened at the news of the death of Noreen Walsh (nee Mc Elligott) late of The Store Craughdarrig and formerly of Lixnaw.

A member of a very well known and highly esteemed family Noreen and her late husband Michael owned the The Bar where they developed a great relationaship with the people of the area.

They operated a bar and retail grocery shop for a number of decades but it closed its doors over a decade ago when Michael passed away and Noreen moved to live in Ballybunion and later in her native Lixnaw.

A lady of warm and outgoing disposition Noreen was held in the highest regard by everyone who knew her.

She had been in good health until fairly recent times and passed away after a short and bravely borne ilness.

The esteem in which Noreen and her family are held locally was reflected in the huge and widely representative congregations that turned out for the removal of her remains from Gleasures Funeral Home in Listowel to Lixnaw Church and again at the Requiem Mass and internment to St Michael’s Cemetery Listowel.

Deepest sympathy is extended to her daughters Siobhan and Mairead, son Donal brothers John & Denis, sisters Bridie, Kitty, Joanie, Eileen, Julie, Margaret & Rose and all other family members and relatives.

ASDEE ROVERS

Asdee Rovers began the new season on a losing note going down to Tralee side Strand Road on Sunday. Asdee took the lead after just 4 minutes with a Liam Mc Elligott penalty kick. The home side equalised early in the second half but as the game entered the concluding stages a draw appeared to be on the cards. However Asdee conceded two late goals which cost them the game.

They appeared in a brand new strip sponsored by Stephen Galvin of Mikey Joe’s Bar in Ballybunion.
