TRACTOR RUN

A wonderful turn out yesterday for the annual Paudie Fitzmaurice Tractor Run. It has become an amazing event that brings together all ages and genders who spruce up their tractors and make the circuit to remember my old National School classmate and lovely human being, Paudie. It’s fantastic seeing all the little kids out along the circuit loving the display of tractors.

GAA GLORY

It just keeps on coming! At the forthcoming All Ireland Ladies Football Final, our very own Emily Woods will be honoured as part of the Kerry senior squad who won the All Ireland 25 years ago. Let us never forget that it was a woman who first brought a Senior All Ireland football medal to this parish - in my living memory. Emily will always be remembered as the player who managed to kick over the very point that won Kerry the Munster title that year thus allowing the team to push on to All Ireland glory. We will be watching with pride on Sunday, Emily, as you take to the pitch. Congratulations!

RUN, WALK OR CRAWL

The Three Counties 4k Road Race commences on Sunday, 16 September in Rockchapel at 1pm. Subsequent 4ks will take place in Knocknagoshel, Brosna, Mountcollins and other parishes in the Duhallow area. All funds raised in each location will go to support local community efforts. The follow-up dates for the 4k challenges (to be walked or run) will be listed here over the next few weeks. It’s time to dust off your runners and get back some of your pre-Summer fitness.
