CAMP FAIR

Camp Fair Day is next Tuesday, 18th September. Always a great day out for all the family ! One of the oldest sheep fairs in the country where sheep are held in pens and sold at Camp Cross. The Sheep Show in Dalys yard starts at 1.00 p.m. and the Adult and Childrens Fancy Dress, Face Painting and The Pet Show start at 3.30 p.m. Bring your pet along, the show is open to all types of pets ! And from 10.30 am.–5.00 p.m. There will be tea/coffee and refreshmen­ts servied in the Old School. Proceeds going to Kerry Hospice Associatio­n.

And Mary Fitzgerald assisted this year by her grand daughter Jane has her mutton pies all baked and ready to be savoured on Camp Fair Day at Camp Junction Bar and Restaurant.

Ashes Bar/Restaurant always serve traditiona­l dishes and meals all day and you can even start out bright and early with breakfast at O Dwyers Mace and choose from their delicattes­an counter all day. And in the evening when the all the bargains are made, there will be plenty of music in the pubs late into the night ! So come along, its an all day affair and there is something for everybody at Camp Fair.

Sheep show categories–Prizes for–Traditonal Pen, Best Scotch ewe lamb, ram lamb, yearling ram and aged ram. Best cheviot aged ram.

Camp Fair Table Quiz will be held on Friday next 14th September at Ashes Bar at 9.30 p.m. Sean Barry is our quizmaster on the night assisted by Pat Moore.

MEMORIAL PLAQUE

And 101 years on last Monday evening, Jack Murphy, Gleann na nGealt was remembered at a special memorial blessing of a plaque erected in the spot where he met his death all those years ago. Jack was on his way home from Camp Fair, the January Fair applicatio­ns. If you are over 65 and even if you have an alarm that is no longer working you can apply. Dingle were forced to play second fiddle to a strong East Kerry side. East Kerry 6-19 Dingle 2-10. They have another bite of the cherry this weekend when they play St Kierans.
