Two frees from Tomás Gaynor had Ballyheigu­e back in the lead at the 42nd minute mark. In the 44th minute a Ballyduff strike from play was followed seconds later by a point from David O’Mahony. Three Tomás Gaynor frees put Ballyheigu­e into a 4 point lead, 1-11 to 1-7. A Ballyduff free in the 55th was followed in the 57th by the decisive score of the game when a pass from Muiris Harty found David O’Mahony and he dispatched the sliotar to the Ballyduff net to put two goals between the sides. Ballyduff scored a point in the 60th minute.

They then pushed hard to get the goals they needed and they were rewarded in the second minute of injury time when a free was flicked to the Ballyheigu­e net. However, Tom Godley blew the whistle and Ballyheigu­e had held out for victory. Well done to both sides on a fantastic game of hurling and thanks to Lixnaw for having the pitch in such a fantastic condition. Pat Dineen of the North Kerry Hurling Board presented the Johnny Hussey Memorial Shield to Captain David O’Mahony. Séamie Ó Fuaráin was named Player of the Match. A great evening for our club and all of Ballyheigu­e should be very proud of these young men. A special word of thanks to Team Mentors Jason Casey, Seánie Colgan and Anthony Kennedy. UNDER-12: Ballyheigu­e welcomed Kilmoyley on Friday evening in Round 2 of the County U-12 Hurling League Division 1. While weather conditions were poor, both sides gave a great display of hurling. Kilmoyley led at halftime by 2-3 to 1-5 but Ballyheigu­e took the honours on a final scoreline of 4-9 to 3-7. Well done, Boys, and hard luck to a gallant Kilmoyley side.

GAA GOLF: Ballyheigu­e GAA Club are holding a fundraisin­g Golf classic on Saturday 22 Sept. Team of 4 x €100. Tee Times available at Golf Club. LOTTO: The draw for the GAA lotto jackpot of €9,450 took place on Monday the 3rd of September in the Three counties bar. The numbers drawn were 12, 13, 20, 21. There was no jackpot winner.
