The much hyped English Premier League took a week off last week as we had the first action in the League of Nations which is to replace meaningless friendlies and the glut of substitutions which make those matches even less competitive.

The League of Nations action, dominated the sports action on our TVs over the past week and maybe it was Ireland’s dire result against Wales, but the return of the Premier League this weekend is welcome.

There is a mouth-watering tie on Saturday as Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool.

Both teams have made good starts to their season, with Liverpool winning all four matches, while Spurs suffered their first defeat last day out to Watford.
