County Under 21 hurling championship reaches semi-final stage

CAUSEWAY, Crotta, Kenmare / Kilgarvan and Lixnaw have qualified for the semi-finals of the County U-21 Hurling Championship.
The competition got underway last weekend with three of the four quarter-finals played. On Friday at Causeway the home side had a 6-14 to 1-5 win over Kilmoyley/ Austin Stacks.
On Saturday Crotta travelled to Ardfert where they had a 3-14 to 0-7 win over St Brendans and Kenmare / Kilgarvan made the trek to Abbeydorney and recorded a convincing 3-22 to 1-9 win over Abbeydorney / Ballyheigue.
The Lixnaw versus Ballyduff game was not played as Ballyduff notified the Board in advance that they were unable to field a team. The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, September 29 with the final fixed for Saturday, October 13.
Junior Championship
THE final of the 2018 County Junior Hurling Championship between Ballyheigue and Duagh is scheduled for this Saturday.
This competition was played in a round robin format involving just three teams – Ballyheigue, St. Pat’s/East Kerry and Duagh. Venue for the final is Abbeydorney where there will be a 5pm throw-in, with extra-time if necessary.

Division 1: Kilmoyley 6-6 Tralee Parnells 7-6; Crotta O’Neill’s 4-11 Kenmare/Kilgarvan 1-2; Ballyheigue 0-2 St. Brendan’s 5-9.
Division 2: Abbeydorney 1-4 Ballyduff 6-10

THE North Kerry Under 16 competitions continue on this Sunday, with games scheduled for 12 noon. ‘A’ Division: Ballyduff v Ballyheigue; St. Brendan’s v Abbeydorney/Causeway. ‘B’ Division: Kilmoyley v Crotta; Lixnaw v Tralee Parnells.
Round 2 results: ‘A’-Abbeydorney/ 5-8 Ballyduff 3-14 [draw]; Ballyheigue 1-20 St. Brendan’s 1-10. ‘ B -Kilmoyley v Lixnaw [deferred until Thursday, 20]; Crotta 6-11 Tralee Parnells 1-1. Check with clubs and the North Kerry Hurling Board Facebook page for up to date fixtures and results.
The Gary Scollard Memorial Under 15 hurling ten-a-side invitation tournament that takes place on this Saturday at the John Mitchels GAA Complex and Connolly Park, Tralee.
Teams competing include Ardagh, Tralee Parnells, Ballinhassig, St. Brendan’s, Adare, Ballyheigue, Granagh-Ballingarry, Crotta, Templeglantine, Abbeydorney, Kenmare/Kilgarvan and Newcastlewest. Games commence at 11am with the Final fixed for Connolly Park at 3pm.
