Will they survive without their phones?
ON October 23 secondary students all over Kerry will be taking part the Enable Ireland No Phone Survival Challenge to raise vital funds for local disability services. That’s right No Calls, No Texts, No Posts, No Likes, No Shares, No Snaps, No Tags for 24 hours!
This year, as part of the No phone Survival Challenge, Enable Ireland is also offering schools the opportunity to earn an Enable Ireland Disability Awareness Shield with a lesson plan on Disability Awareness.
“We are delighted with the response of schools in Kerry,” Sean Scally of Enable Ireland said.
“Students and teachers are embracing the campaign and welcome the lesson plans and the opportunity to be awarded a Disability Awareness Shield for their school”
According to Sean, the lesson plans are tailor made for teachers and provide a four-part educational module which will give students a full and interactive introduction to the reality of life with a disability, the plans are perfect for classes of any age but is especially useful for Transition Year Students and CSPE curriculums. Most importantly, every school that completes the Disability Awareness Lesson Plan will qualify for a unique Enable Ireland Disability Awareness Shield.
Money raised from the campaign will be used to support services to children and adults with disabilities in Kerry. All services are geared to ensure that a disability is not an obstacle to a child or adult expressing themselves, building friendships, playing sports, accessing education and participating in the community.
Schools that wish to register for the No Phones Campaign or would like information on the Disability Awareness Shield should contact (066) 7128220.
