Streets close to cars and open for food

-

With Dingle set to be bursting at the seams over the weekend of the Food Festival, traffic management will as always be a major issue and for that reason some of the town’s streets will be closed to traffic to make space for street markets and the thousands of people foraging on the festival’s taste trail on Saturday and Sunday.

Green Street, Grey’s Lane, Strand Street and Holy Ground are the streets affected by traffic and parking restrictions, which come will be in effect from Friday evening to Sunday. Festival organisers are appealing to people – particularly residents and business owners - to move their vehicles out of the restricted parking areas before the restrictions come into effect.

Streets will be closed to traffic as follows: Grey’s Lane, Strand Street (from Strand House to O’Keeffe’s chemists), Holy Ground (from Holden’s to Avondale) – closed from 5pm on Friday to 6pm on Sunday (Oct 5-7).

Green Street – closed on Saturday (Oct 6) from 11am – 6pm and on Sunday from 1pm – 6pm. The car parking spaces will also be closed on Green Street during these times.

Some traffic diversion will be in place to ease the flow of traffic but the best bet is not to bring a car into Dingle if possible. To this end the festival is running a shuttle bus service from the Údarás offices in Milltown and the former Fitzgerald’s hardware in Ballinaboola on both Saturday and Sunday. The buses run all day and cost €2 per trip.
