AZURE GAELS TWINNED WITH EMMETS: A mighty weekend of sport and games concluded on Saturday evening with the second of our exhibition games between past Emmets players, stars of the future and Azure Gaels before the official twinning of our clubs. We were absolutely delighted to welcome this great bunch of lads to our club and we thank everyone involved in organising the event, in particular the Pierse family who were also heavily involved in helping out with all events over the weekend. COMMUNITY FUN DAY: What an unbelievable weekend of fun and games in Frank Sheehy Park! We were blessed with the weather last Saturday for our annual Jim Corridan tournament and Community Fun Day both of which were a huge success. We were absolutely delighted with the amount of families and children who made the most of the day and enjoyed our complimentary bbq, before taking part in an open training session with Brian Scanlan, Athletics with Kevin Lynch and many other activities such as face painting, penalty shootouts and a tug of war among others. There was plenty on offer too for the adults with Irish music and dancing, a presentation on Listowel/North Kerry by Vincent Carmody and an exhibition game against our French visitors Azure Gaels.

Thanks so much to everyone that helped out on the day, with sponsorship, food and everything else - there are way too many of ye to mention! We are very lucky to have so many brilliant people involved in our Club. Thank You Martin In the midst of our Community Fun Day celebrations on Saturday last a special presentation was made to our groundsman of 25 years, the great Martin Scanlon. Our Field Committee Chairman Tadhg Moriarty gave a rousing speech in appreciation of a man who has given everything to Emmets over the years and has put his heart and soul into our field and club facilities. Martin was joined on the day by his family and close friends and by the men that have soldiered with him over the years. He has taken a step back from his role in recent times but as Tadhg mentioned he still has a key so I’m sure he will be keeping a close eye on proceedings to make sure we are all working hard!

Thanks for all of your hard work Martin and best wishes to you and your family going forward. You have been a huge part of Emmets and you always will be. CONGRATULATIONS: Mike and Bernadette We would like to extend our congratulations to our IT officer Mike ‘Gonzo’ O’Connor and his new bride Bernadette who were married in Listowel on Saturday last. We wish ye both a lifetime of happiness and best wishes for the future.
