SSE AIRTRICITY UNDER 17 LEAGUE

Kerry 4 Cobh Ramblers 5

KERRY played their final league game of the season at Mounthawk Park on Sunday and they seemed to be heading for their first win when they held a 3-1 after 40 minutes.

However, things went pear-shaped in the second half and the three points went out the window. Kerry got off to a dream start when Jack Pierce gave them the lead with an excellent goal in the second minute, Cobh Ramblers drew level when Chris O’Reilly attacked up the right wing and beat Alex O’Connor from the edge of the penalty area. John Hayes restored the Kerry lead when he tucked away a Sebastian Vasiu free kick midway through the half

Jr Tshikato increased their lead in the 40th minute when he intercepted a clearance by the visitors keeper Alan Happi and scored from close range and Kerry were in a comfortable position a the break 3-1 ahead.

Cobh came back strongly in the second half and were on level terms by the 60th minute with goals from Eoin Guiney and Luke Kennedy and Kerry were struggling to get back into the game.

Ramblers went 5-3 ahead with a goal from a goalmouth scramble and a controversial penalty by Jack Leonard. James Rusk missed the chance to get Kerry back in the game when Alan Happpi saved his penalty kick.

Nathan Gleeson did score for Kerry in the final minute but it came too late to salvage anything from the game. Kerry are back in action at Mounthawk Park next Sunday where they play Limerick in the first round of the Under-17 Shield.

The kick off is at 2pm.
