St Brendan’s AC athletes had a good day at the Kerry even-age county cross country championship on Sunday last in Killarney. Ben O’Connor collected a bronze medal in the U10 race, Zach Walshe was 4th in the U12 while Matthew O’Sullivan was 6th in the same race. Emer O’Sullivan was 5th in the U16 girls championships with a good run. The uneven-age groups will be in action on this Sunday in Kenmare and also competing will be the St Brendan’s women’s and men’s masters teams. The action begins at 11.00am and all the club’s distance athletes are asked to be available for these races. Training continues on Wednesdays at 6.30 in An Fearann for juveniles and on Tuesdays for seniors and masters at the new time of 6.30.The club thanks the big numbers of pupils, teachers and parents who attended the primary schools cross country in An Fearann last week. There were 19 schools represented on the evening and the athletes had great fun and competition over the new Fearann ground.The AGM of St Brendan’s AC will be held on Monday, October 15th in Cúl Mhuire at 8pm. New members will be most welcome as there is a busy year ahead and the club is hoping to increase its numbers and range of activities. There will be an awards night on Tuesday, October 30th to honour the athletes who represented the club with distinction over the year and also to thank all the club’s members for their efforts in 2018. BALLYDUFF IN BLOOM/ TIDY TOWNS
Congratulations to Listowel Tidy Towns on their recent well deserved victory in the all Ireland Tidy Towns competition. We were delighted to increase our own marks by 19 points. Our adjudication Report with its breakdown of marks over the eight categories can be viewed on our Face Book page. Copies of the report are also available locally. Many thanks again to all our volunteers and supporters who helped with litter picking, planting ,feeding and watering over the summer.
COURSING CLUB AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Ballyduff Coursing Club was held in the Clubrooms in Rahela on Monday September 24th and the following Officers were returned for the season ahead;President: Thomas Brennan.Vice Presidents: Michael Houlihan, John Mike Houlihan, Cyril McEnery, Tadhg O’Sullivan, Gerard O’Hanlon, John P O’Connor.Chairman: Michael Slattery. ICC Rep: Brendan Purcell.This year’s renewal of the North Kerry Cup meeting will take place over the weekend of November 16th, 17th and 18th. The Club is 70 years in existence this year which is a great credit to the coursing members who have served the Club so well since it’s inception in 1948. Work has commenced in preperation of this year’s meeting and Club Meetings take place every Thursday evening at 8.30pm and new members are always welcome. CLOTHES COLLECTION
Sliabh a’ Mhadra N.S. is having a Clothes Recycling Drive on Thursday 11th October. Please donate all your old clothes, shoes, belts, handbags, bed linen, towels and curtains. These bags of clothing can be placed in the school bicycle shelter on the evening of October 10th or from early morning to 10.00 am. on Thursday, October 11th. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our last collection which was a great success.
