HANDED DOWN

On this Saturday evening October 6th at The Heritage Centre, Scartaglen the first Handed Down of Series 5 will take place at 8pm. The presentati­on is entitled “Peter Browne A thank you from Sliabh Luachra” presented by Paudie O Connor. A special Handed Down where presenter Paudie O Connor will look back on recently retired RTE broadcaste­r Peter Browne’s life as a musician and his deep connection and wonderful service he gave to the music of Sliabh Luachra. This is an opportunit­y for the people of Sliabh Luachra to show their appreciati­on of all the work that Peter Brown did for the area during his career with RTE. Special guests: Peter Browne, Paddy Jones, Aoife Ni Chaoimh, Noeleen O Donnell, singer Joe Creedon from Chor Cul Aodh., young musicans All Ireland champion Roisin O Connor and piper Ciaran Browne . Admission is Adults E8 and children U12 E3.

RAMBLING HOUSE

The next Rambling House session in The Heritage Centre Scartaglen will be on Monday night next October 8th commencing at 9pm. As always admission is free with a raffle and refreshmen­ts on the night. Everyone welcome.

CANCER COLLECTION

The Irish Cancer Society will hold their annual church gate collection at the 10.30am mass in Scartaglen on Sunday next October 7th . Your generous support for the collection would be much appreciate­d.

AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

The next Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglin will be on Sunday October 21st when Denis O’Leary will be present starting time as usual is 2.30pm and all are welcome.

MS SPONSORED WALK

The South Kerry Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland are holding their 16th Annual sponsored walk on the Old Kenmare Road on Sunday next October 7th. For sponsorshi­p Friday last, September 28 in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Templeglan­tine, between Jennifer Kelly, Sugarhill and Mark O’Donnell, Ballyagran. The celebrant at the wedding ceremony was Fr Denis Mullane PP. The wedding reception took place afterwards in the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney. Jennifer is daughter of Christy and Ann Kelly, Sugarhill. Déanaimid comhghaird­eas leis an lánún nuaphósta agus guímid gach rath orthu.

COMHALTAS

All who enjoy a night of topclass traditiona­l entertainm­ent are looking forward to the Comhaltas Tour of Ireland Concert in Templeglan­tine on Wednesday, October 17. It is expected that there will be a large attendance at Halla Inse Bán on the night to savour the performanc­e of the sixteen strong group of musicians, singers and dancers. The Anniversar­y mass for Maurice Leahy, Devon Road will be celebrated on Thursday, 11am, for Lizzie Carmody and Jack Conroy on Saturday, 6pm and for Mary Ita Sugars on Sunday, 10.30pm. Beannacht Dé ar anamacha na marbh. Readers for next weekend masses are Mary Fitzgerald and Willie Larkin, Basket Collectors are Anjo Mulcahy, Mossie Leahy, Joe McAuliffe and Patie Riordan. The next Baptismal Informatio­n Evening will take place in Athea Church on October 9. The monthly Restoratio­n Collection took place on last weekend.
